On tap at the brewery into a mason jar.
A-My beer arrives with a short, nearly-white head. The retention is short and the beer leaves no lacing. It is darker than most witbiers; a light-golden color and mostly clear. A few lazy streams of carbonation are visible.
S-The smell is on the grassy side with heavy flavors of lemon grass, chamomile tea, and a little bit of orange peel. Coriander spice lurks in the background.
T-The taste is sweeter than the smell with less dried grass and more Belgian yeasty sweetness. I don't get much in the way of wheat, but the spices/adjuncts (coriander, orange, lemongrass, and chamomile) are very prevalent.
M-The feel is slightly sticky and chewy with a medium to fuller heft. Carbonation is moderate to lower than average.
O-I did not click with this beer and I don't think it rates well to style. It doesn't look like a wit and it doesn't really feel like a wit, either. The spices are there, but the wheat aspect of things is missing for me. Drinks almost like a spiced Belgian pale.
