It's camping season and the bonfires are bountiful! Keep the smoke out of your eyes and in your glass with White Rabbit. This 4.7% ABV Smoked Helles-Style Lager was brewed using German Pilsner malt and German beechwood smoked malt to lend a smooth, smokey layer to this light lager beer.

This is a first for this brewery, and it came out pretty well. I'd say they could even make it a little smokier, as the smoke odor and flavor was a bit subtle. It doesn't need to taste like a campfire, but I could do with a bit more. The base beer is pretty solid, and I wonder what that would taste like on its own. Plenty of experimenting they can do with this one.

Pale straw yellow body; semi-cloudy; sparse carbonation, gently rising; one-finger thick head, white and creamy. Nice, gently sweet aroma; mildly fruity and floral; bare trace of smoke. Excellent lager taste with a moderate dollop of beechwood smoke; grassy and pear-like hop notes. Medium body; juicy with a mild sharpness on the palate; finishes dry.
This is a nice, refreshing pilsner with a nice, balanced smokey component to it. I'd liken it it Brauerei Heller-Trum's heller lager.
Pouring temperature: 52 °F; canning data: unavailable
