THis beer is walking over a very thin line. Yesterday my buddy Andy was over and we drank some Belgian beers which were not that good. To save the evening we ended with a Pannepot Grand Reserva. Now about this beer.

Poures in a Dutch beerglass it is hard to get some head. When it's teher is is fast gone. Darkbrown fluid. There is no real smell, only some sourness. This sourness is also in the taste together with some carbonation in the mouth and some caramel. Not one of the great Belgian beers, rather disappointing.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours orangish-brown with a white head. The aroma is lighter malts with some citrus. The flavor is malts with a lot of fruit, some grapes, oranges and other citrus. Light-medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A clear, dark copper, brown beer with a frothy head.

Smell of mild roasted with some faint metallic notes. Also some candisugar. Not a very strong smell overall.

The taste is full of a munich-like maltiness that topped by cookie dough. The malt is backed up by a precisely aimed bitterness, but this beer is all about the malt. The yeast profile is very nice. It adds a spicy flavor along with some higher alcohols that has roses and a trace of tartness. Just enough to add complexity instead of off-flavour. According to the label There are spices in here, but I am totally in the dark about which. Could be orange peel, but now I am guessing.

I am not sure what this makes a winter beer, but it sure is nice.

Reddish color, one finger of beige head.
In the smell, a lot of candy sugar, red fruits, but, after all, it mantains a bit of balance, even if obviously tending to the sweet side.
Same notes in the taste, with candy sugar again, on a malty base, and red fruits.
Well, sweet, yes.
There are worse beer, for the sweetness, but, in the end, quite boring.
Not too interesting.
