The Light & The Glass is a dry hopped imperial amber with an aroma highlighted by grapefruit, peach, and mango, leading into a caramel, toasted grain and dark fruit malt base. A medium body and semi sweet finish balance out the heavy handed dry hopping while still maintaining high drink-ability despite the ABV.

An average, even pour produced a fat finger of off-white creamy foam with long retention and small sliding spots of lacing. New England-style cloudy, semi-opaque burnt amber color.

Smells of herbal and floral hops with white bready and toasted malt and a caramel sweetness.

Semi sweet at first with above average peppery bitterness, the caramel flavor is matched by pale malt. It dries to neutral with citrus juice flavor but is not juicy while the bitterness builds to well above average, alcohol become noticeable at the end. The finish is long with the malt and juice flavors slowly dropping off, the bitterness lingers on.

Medium-plus body with average carbonation. The best way to describe this beer is a 2X NEIPA with balanced caramel malt flavor adding to the taste and richness. The 8%ABV is well hidden. Interesting. Labeled as an Imperial Amber Ale.

This is a big, hoppy red ale. Light body - you could easily chug it. More IPA than amber ale, but interesting and worth grabbing a 4.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Part of a deal with @jhavs. Thank you!
The beer pours a slightly cloudy amber hue with frothy offwhite head of 2 cm. This foam fades to a clingy edge layer and a few wispy islands on the surface of my beer. This has the appearance of a unfiltered hard cider. Quite a bit of white particulate settles towards the bottom of my glass.
The aroma is mild with some caramel and a bit of grassy and herbal hops. SOme black tea character and maybe a little toffee. The nose is kind of mild in general though.
Moving to the first sip. The beer has an average to light body with fairly crisp texture and mild and spacious carbonation. Pretty easy drinking physical traits on this brew.
Flavor is similar to nose with caramel and some toffee mixing together and a little bit of roasted grain note too. Not like a coffee more like toasted muffin or bagel. I also get some black tea hops on the finish that have a bit of bitterness to them. The 8% is very well hidden and this doesnt seem like an "Imperial Amber" because of that fact.
this is a good beer although I think the haziness and general appearance hurt it a little. its worth a try and if you like haziness you will probably really like what itdoes to this style. Enjoy!

Really fucking interesting beer!

Bought growler on 02.15.18 from the brewery, drank 02.22.18

Look: A really ugly beer in the best sort of way - the color of rust! Kind of like a family mutt that has tons of personality that everyone loves, whose name is "Rusty". Nice white head that dissipates and leaves some lacing. Non translucent, mostly from the cloudiness.

Smell: Skanky and slightly dank with some fresh hopness creeping in there somewhere. Definiely some cherry too.

Taste: Kind of an interplay between an amber, a brown and a red ale. The cherry is still there, along with a bit of smoke and burnt caramel, and some freshness which is kind of confusing given every thing else.

Feel: Heavy man. Just right for this beer.

Overall: No idea what to call this - some type of Germanic Amber Ale, with a whole lot of New England haze going on. I suspect this is never going to hit the mainstream but I'm sure glad I grabbed it while I could. I'm not sure if I would want to drink this on a regular basis, but it's really worth trying just to see what's going on. While I haven't tried all of Austin Street's portfolio - this is the first beer of theirs I have tried that might even fit into an "extreme beer" portfolio because it sort of pushes the boundaries and doesn't fit into any particular style. Really well done and Cheers!

From a growler purchased at the brewery to an Austin Street Teku glass.
Deep amber caramel color. One-finger head that dissipates.
Smell of sour cherry and apricot with hop undertones. Really nice aroma.
Taste follows smell with more hop bitterness on the tongue. Very nice cold-weather beer taste; full-bodied, but subtle to no yeast taste.
Feel is full-bodied winter beer.
I really like this beer. Will replace my go-to Patina in the remaining winter months.
