Smoked brown huh? I love a good brown ale, and smoke beers are always interesting, let’s see where this one takes us

Pours a rich chestnut brown with a finger of tan colored head, moderate lacing

Oh yeah, that’s definitely smoke in the aroma. Big and bold with dark malts, with lighter notes of caramel and vanilla from the barrel

Sip starts off with a lot of char, before settling into a sweet malt and dark chocolate that lingers before the smoke comes back in, this tome with some mild heat. A bit of coffee roastiness to back it up, more roast than I like in a brown but it works here

Full bodied with mild carbonation, there’s some odd heat to this one given the abv. Maybe a little more than necessary, and getting close to stout territory feel-wise

Overall this wasn’t bad, but I’m almost ashamed of paying $6 for this can. It was amongst the bombers of some very fine beers and it was a recommendation from the liquor store worker, but I won’t fault him for that lol

A: Pours a deep mahogany color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap that leaves good lacing

S: Toasted malt, smoked malt, light mezcal (which is also lightly smokey), caramel, and a touch of oak

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a mix of toasted and smoked malt and then slowly picks up the caramel, mezcal, and oak. Smoke builds gradually. Finishes with lingering smoke and caramel

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very good treatment to the base smoked brown ale. The mezcal compliments extremely well and doesn’t overpower at all. Well smoked, but definitely not cloying or overpowering in that aspect either. Very well done and highly recommended if you can track down a can
