Notes / Commercial Description:
This Wet Hop IPA is made with all CT grown hops picked by us here at the brewery over at a secret hop growing location! A sticky sweet blend of Summit, Alpha Aroma, Newport and Cascade hops off the vine and into the kettle within 45 mins of being picked! The beer has a great hop resinous flavor that’s filled w. honey and flowers and dank love. The wet hops used give great citrus forward aromatics and at 5.5% abv you are going to want another one and then another one.

Poured from a can, can't find any date on it but it's new in my local store so it's probably fairly fresh.

Look is a slightly cloudy amber orange, a dense white head and a full coat of lace.
Smell is pretty good and hoppy, green grass and pine and some citrus. It's nice, though not super intense.
Taste is quite good. Lots of pine resin, grapefruit and maybe some vague tropical fruit. Some earthy herbal flavors and a good caramel graham cracker malt base.
Feels nice, sticky hops resin and medium body. A good bitterness lingers.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this beer! I think they've tweaked the recipe over the years, and certainly the fresh hops will give a unique profile each time.
Definitely worth a try if you find it!

Sampling a pounder can at cellar temp poured into a chalice. My can says 7% ABV not the 5.5% listed here. The beer is a gift from my friend Yve who does some work for the brewery. the beer pours a bright clear copper color with maybe a little rose color but that could just be my mind playing with the name of the beer.
Several fine streams of carbonation rise to the surface and I get a creamy densely packed eggshell white head of 1 cm after a gentle pour. The head fades pretty quickly to a wispy island and some clingy edge layer. The aroma is some grainy caramel and cereal notes up front, but then rolls to some hits of vegetal and herbal tea note hop characters. No hints of any of the 7% ABV on the nose. The aroma isnt a punch you in the face kind of hop hit, actually kind of mild.
First sip reveals an average body with gentle rolling carbonation. The texture is a bit sticky and syrupy and I do get a bit of a coating on my palate after each sip.
Flavor is some malt up front again, with cereal and caramel. Then moves to herbal and vegetal hops kinda resinous flavor, but again not punching in the face hoppy. I do get some astringency on the swallow, but not like an aspirin and no booze anywhere. this beer is very drinkable and Im glad to have tried one. I do think a little more hop on the nose would boost my experience for this one, but still dig it. Thanks Yve!

Had on tap at Barnum Publick House in Bridgeport. I don't think this beer is fully retired, but that's another issue. Pours golden, fairly clear, with a nice white head that leaves lacing. Smell is weak, sweetness and some juicy hops at the most. Taste is weak, too. Almost more like a belgian pale than an IPA. Not bitter or hoppy. Sweet, doughy malts, fruit, maybe a kiss of hops. This is a big miss for black hog. Lighter bodied and nice carbonation are the only redeeming points.

On tap at Prime 16. Pours a translucent orange color with a 1/4 inch of head. Some lacing. The aroma is some light floral hops and caramel malts. Some citrus hops as well. Not much going on in way of taste here. More malt flavor than hops. Light floral notes. Not much else to report. Light mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable but not all that much flavor. Just a pretty pedestrian beer all around. Not much of the hop presence I was expecting from a Wet Hop IPA. Overall, I won't be getting this one again.
