Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can, 2018 vintage on label, poured into my snifter. The beer pours a dark chocolate brown hue with a fluffy tan head of 2 cm foaming up and sitting weightlessly on the top of my glass. The foam is fading slowly leaving large craters on the surface.
The aroma is a mix of dark chocolate, roasted malt notes, some vanilla and smooth bourbon scents. No hops and the bourbon isnt boozy notes, but more of the sweeter side. Appealing and appropriate nose on this big beer.
First sip reveals a sticky textured body with very fine and tingly carbonation. Pretty good thickness as I swish the brew around my palate.

Flavor is what nose advertised with lots of malt hits. I get dark chocolate, brown sugar, roasted malt notes some molasses and a good amount of bourbon, again not boozy but the sweetness. Booze is dangerously well hidden. The finish is a little bourbon and roasted notes and the bourbon flavor comes back on the burps. I dont get any hops on this big malt bomb and Im surprised at how well hidden the booze is, although the base beer is also sneaky, so it makes sense the barrel aged would be too.
Definitely glad to have tried this, definitely want to get some more. Leaves a Mark and its variants are at the top of CT stouts IMO.
