Not every day I review a Connecticut beer. Also not every day I review a fruited ipa (bleh).

Pours a golden yellow color leaning into some light orange, light cloudiness, 1/2" white head. The aroma was mango and what smelled more like pear. Wasn't really hoppy, just picking up some residual grain notes after the fruit juice.

Taste, eh hops not pronounced, alcohol was. The fruitiness wasn't too excessive, I still would rather it not be there, but it had the usual mango sweetness to it. Weird that at 7% this is deemed an imperial ipa. I mean, it 'tastes' like an imperial ipa, the abv tasted like it was 9% at least. But the body, the hops, everything else was just kind of, 'there'. Mosaic and Citra hops were lost, I could see Hallertau here giving the more of a wine like abv impression. Adding mango and using Mosaic seems like a waste of Mosaic hops. Tend to notice better mango flavors from just hops. I didn't hate the beer, but it didn't move the needle on getting me to like fruited ipas either.

Poured from a pint can into an IPA Style glass. Full head, 4 fingers deep, off white in color, with nice lacing. The beer is amber colored, with lots of effervescence. Very fruity on the nose. This is a juicy IPA; I could taste the mango, but not being familiar with dragon fruit I can't address that flavor. The hops combo of Mosaic, Citra and Hallertau Blanc worked well for the cleansing bite at the end. The brewer also used Maine grown oats, not sure if they added to the swetness. Very good offering from Black Hog.

Pours a decent fizzy bubbly creamy 1.5 finger head that fades at a slower pace, decent lacing, slight hazy mostly clear golden pilsner color

Nose brings plenty of mango, and dragon fruit notes, but a little pine and dank tropical, hint of pineapple, some citrus, a little malt, generic tropical

Taste brings plenty of rind, citrus rind, a little melon rind, some dragon fruit and melony flavors, as well as mild mango not as much as the nose, light citrus and stone fruit, juicy tropical, more generic tropical, a touch of pine and dank spicy hops esp late when it attempts to dry but a bit sticky, mild to fair bitterness, then a weird paper pulp thing late that I can't really label but it is a bit unpleasant

Mouth is med bod, a touch soft creamy, decent but lighter carb

Overall eh, not bad, fruits done come through a ton, hops are decent but not crazy good, decent balance but maybe a bit more attenuation
