On-tap 3/21/2015 at the brewpub in Cranston, RI, served in a mug glass.
A: The beer is a dark gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, rye, spices, citrus, lager yeast and a good amount of hops.
T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of lager yeast and a hearty malt character. Then some sweet flavors of caramel and citrus come in. The rye and spice flavors are much more subdued than they are in the smell. The hops presence is significant and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.
