From a grower purchased on 8/23/15 and served in my DT tulip. Pours a beautiful burnt orange hue with a tight, half-inch, off-white head which dissipates to a frothy dollop and a tight band around the shoulders. Clarity is slightly hazy and copious tiny bubbles are present adhering to the bowl of the glass. Nose expresses candied orange notes and a hint of spice and rind. Taste consistent with nose - very sweet and citrusy with a kiss of something herbal towards the back. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light) with a mild, even carbonation, a light oiliness to the texture and a trace of residual heat at the finish. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. I was told by the waitress that it was pale ale, but was pleasantly surprised by the full flavor. If you are looking for a true Belgian tripel, the yeast character just isn't there in my opinion. That said, RIPTA is one of my favorite Brutopia beers thus far; Munk being my favorite - perhaps they've found a niche with an American hommage to the Belgian styles.
