this near extinct German porter tasted sour very much like a Flanders Red, very dark colour. Some great sips and really sour. A little background sweetness but be ready for it, great with veggies and sour cream and hummus.

Had on tap at the brewery. Pours opaque, jet black in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is dark grape, ingar, sour mix and chocolate. Sour, roasty, medium body, low carbonation. Interesting and multilayered. A treat.

Color is dark, dense coffee brown with a very robust, creamy light brown head. Lacing is fair, spotty. The aroma is a combination of light yeast and mellow coffee malt. The flavor again hits with a tart yeast that quickly succumbs to malty coffee and chocolate licorice. A bit sharp but mellowed a bit by the malt presence. Very nice. Body is medium with a fairly effervescent feel. Overall beautiful beer that is pretty unique.

Serving type could be growler or bottle I guess as the brewery does 750 ml swing top bottles as growlers.
The beer pours a rich dark chocolate color with a fluffy beige head that foams up 3 inches even with a gentle pour. The head fades slowly to a sturdy surface layer with tightly packed lattice work on the glass as the head recedes.
Aroma is some dark malt with chocolate and dark fruit, a little brown sugar. No hops that I pick up at this point.
I also dont get any booze hints from the nose.
First sip reveals an average body and silky smooth texture. Very fine carbonation that tingles across my palate.
Flavor is malty with some brown sugar and dark chocolate, I also get a bit of black peppery booze and some light spiciness.
The beer is enjoyable and very complex and robust. As the beer warms up the booze is a little more noticeable, but I still dont have much trouble working through the bottle.
A big brew to savor over some time, maybe better to split with a friend. Definitely worth trying if in Oxford area.
