Poured from a bottle (15Nov2016) into a white wine glass (as directed by the bottle!)
L: pours a clear burnt orange gold. Small white head to start that dissipated quickly, some visible carbonation
S: somewhat subdued wild ale nose, with white grapes/white wine leading the charge. Slightly musty, some bitter green apple, good amount of barrel/oak, quite acidic. Musty funk growing as it’s warmed, also getting a fruity pineapple aroma now
T: white wine again leading the charge here, some nice assertive acidity to start. Drying, leading to a fruity middle and a bready medium/long finish. Crisp Granny Smith apple, fresh bread, oak
F: medium body, with the oak aging adding some structure, medium carbonation, quite drying
O: very nice ale from OEC, as I expected. Flavor, while solid, lacked some depth for me and think the acidity could have been dialed back a bit. Still a great beer!
