Stramboozled is a special three way blend between Brouwerij Alvinne (Moen, Belgium), Hanssens Artisanaal (Dworp, Belgium) & OEC Brewing. The blend includes several druited sour ales that were matured in oak barrels with one of three different fruits: strawberries, raspberries or cherries.

absolutely righteous beer, so glad to see a little of this beer around, oec has long had my attention, but their beer has been so hard to track down. this is a really cool collaboration with hanssens and alvinne, two of my favorites, and includes heavy strawberry in the nose and taste, as well as some cherry and raspberry too apparently, but its the strawberries that really launch themselves at me here! its just barely pinkish orange in color, lightly frosted looking, but holding well over an inch of white head in the wine glass, from the tap at goed zuur, leftover from a dinner i wish i didnt miss. i smell the hanssens strawberry lambic, iodine and bandaids and medical waste in the astringent bacterial and musty funk profile, but sweet, dried, jammy and tart little berries, sizzling on my tongue when i taste it too, that is the most familiar aspect of this. i get a little bit of the raspberry too, but more wild ale than fruited beer to me, even with the prominent strawberry, its so mature and funky and with some of the vinegar element i get in alvinne beers, a cool mix of what i know about each of these operations coming together so well. heavy wood and rustic lambic as a base, oec has done a wonderful job preserving this element. wood and must and wet funk, lemongrass and strawberry preserves and old kriek beer, champagne yeast and rushing carbonation, lots of sourness too, refreshing and insanely complex at the same time. this is brilliant stuff, and i think my favorite of the oec beers i had in this sitting. these guys are so lucky to have access to these beers to blend, some of the best in the world!

25cl pour at The Trappist. Poured a pinkish red, short head and little lacing. Very agressive nose, with lemon, strawberry, sherry vinegar, and a little straw. Medium carbination, with the feel starting off more full and warm and finishing up sticky and acidic. The straw and berry hit hard up front, and the lemon-acidity stick around for a while. Very enjoyable beer.

Tart and vinegary in the best of ways. This beer has a ton of layers of wild funk, with nice berry notes. OEC did a great job blending the 3 fruits- strawberry, raspberry, and cherry.
