found this on tap! not sure what blend, so will review under the original listing here, but being that its recent, its likely to be blend two. in any event, this is a stellar beer, not for the faint of heart, but nothing from these guys ever is. its stunningly interesting, a big sour brown ale, woody as can be, funky, vinous, boozy, but then there is some amount of peat smoked malt in it from what i understand, a cool tweak to the beer, and it really steers the flavor. medium brown in color with some deep red edges, a short patchy burlap colored head on top, still after a few minutes, not as viscous as anticipated, some light fog as well. aroma is big to me, tons of campfire smoke, wet earth, pit bbq smoke, meaty like that, dried red apple, red wine vinegar, cocoa powder, balsamic, oak, and a burnt element, still a flemish sort of acidity and sourness running through it. the flavor is all of this, complex as can be with quite a lot of peat to it, some citric sourness as well, port wine and sherry, toasted malts and dark bread, raisin and dried cranberry, old wet wood, and a slight acrid element from all the smoke. its about as complex as can be, taking oud bruin to a new place, and finishing with a warm wash of alcohol on the breath after each sip. this is something to behold, curious but epic. not sure how this is getting into idaho, but im a huge fan and i hope to see more beer from these guys show up!
