Had on tap on cask at the brewery. Taste is complex, rum, sandalwood, red grape. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet. Wow is this excellent. Sweet and complex. An excellent beer. Complex like a Utopia.

Blend 3, bottled 11/16/21
This one is a big time want of mine. A massive cask driven and oxidized Barleywine sounds like an absolutely perfect way to close my night. I’ve heard this is a very unique beer, so I’m all the more excited to try it. OEC tends to excel at these strange beers, so let’s stop wasting time and just dig in
Pours a very dark brown with just a few brown bubbles around the edge, leaving no lacing but nice legs
The oxidation almost brings a touch of tartness to the sweet beer that’s here, resulting in a wonderful balance. I’m picking up on aromas of port wine, molasses, black cherry, old leather, sweet whiskey, toasted oak, oxidized sherry, burnt caramel, light smoke, and dark bread
The sweeter elements come out more in taste, but it still retains the oxidized edge to keep it in check. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting sweet raisin, port wine, caramel, milk chocolate, sweet whiskey, molasses, leather, light sherry, and brown sugar. The swallow brings notes of port wine, black cherry, fig, oxidized sherry, burnt caramel, milk chocolate, charred oak, molasses, smoky tobacco, and light vanilla
A medium full body with absolutely no carbonation results in a slick beer. Finishes astonishingly dry and not overly boozy for 16.66%
This is an awesome beer. It has to get a bump in the overall for how unique it is. I could drink a lot of this if it was more accessible and cheaper

Pours dead still and syrupy. Leaves a film wherever it touches the glass. Hardly a bubble emerges. Literally, there is no carb, but sits in the glass like reduced balsamic.
Aromas of rich, reduced dark fruits, port wine, cognac sweetness, brown bread, molasses. No clear evidence of this being nearly 17% alcohol.
Holy hell. This is barleyport. It’s sweet and viscous, with huge amounts of reduced figs, port wine, oak, caramel and brûléed sugar. Aftertaste is fruity and vinous, with sticky sweet prunes and floral vanilla. There is absolutely no alcohol burn at all. It’s sweet, but not cloying, and the flavors are balanced, and I absolutely love it.
Definitely one of the most unique beers I’ve ever had. Such an amazing take on barleywine, and so well crafted. All those years of aging, and purposeful oxidation has to be so hard to manage. All the hard work paid off.

3 oz pour.
This one pour a flat and syrupy looking dark brown color, with no head or lacing.
This smells like rich caramel, sherry, sweet whiskey, oak, milk chocolate, port, and toffee.
This has been a long time want, for as long I can remember liking barleywines, so I'm stoked to finally try it. The lack of carbonation doesn't hurt all. There's a very pleasant fruity oxidation, with a deep port-like sweetness, light milk chocolate, some oak, caramel, toffee, and fruit leather.
This is thick, syrupy, and rich, with a really nice smooth drinkability, with basically no booziness at all.
It's hard for a barleywine fan like myself to not really dig this one. I don't always like still beers, but this is the way to do them.

Served from a cask at the brewery into a stemmed wine glass.
The zero carbonation threw me for a loop for a minute, but after that first sip, I was sold.
How in the world is this 16% alcohol? The alcohol is so well hidden, the whiskey and sherry flavors are so well balanced.
The smells are overwhelming, in the best way possible, the sherry from the oxidation is the prominent feature here.

A spectacular still English barley wine. Complex, full of depth and flavor, and dangerously drinkable.
Aromas of dark fruit, sherry, and exquisite age combine for an excellent drinking experience.
