My first braggot, I don't really know what to expect here. I've had this one is my fridge for about 2 months when I took a trip up to OEC and I forgot all about it until now. I have no expectations here, so let's just dive right in
Pours an opaque muddy brown with no head or lacing at all, just a thin ring of bubbles
Dear lord, that's very sweet and honey-like in the nose, overly so like a punch in the face. I'm picking up on aromas of raw honey, caramel malt, some leather, crabapple, and a hint of rye
The taste is quite different than I expected, quite funky and a touch brett-y with the same honey sweetness. On the front end I'm tasting red berries, honey, and some general spices, maybe that's the ginger coming through. The swallow opens up a bit more, bringing forth notes of green apple, spicy rye, sweet honey, and a touch of lemon
A very full body and almost no carbonation leads to a heavy slow sipper, might be the most time I've spent with such a small bottle of beer. It's not that the abv feels particularly high, but it is very sweet like a mead and that shows. Finishes somewhere between dry and mouth coating
This was some weird stuff. I'm not so sure that this is my style, but it's well executed and interesting enough to keep me sipping it and wanting to try more braggots if I see them

Blood moon red in color. Ginger gold, rotten apple, thrushed hay, floral lavender and staghorn. Buckwheat honey, hint of spice, rye grain, slight caramel sweetness. Full bodied and warming. A good after dinner drink.

Some mixed fermentation tartness very buried in honey. So kind of a dessert for very oil food. On tap at the source. Hops, so its a braggot. Dangerously drinkable and an entrant for the sweet kind of beers around.
