so heady to get this on draft. its a blend of hanssens currant lambic with sake and an oec sour with currants, three threads, one distinctive brew. pink and without much head, softly cloudy, not at all viscous for its strength. the aroma gathers well in the snifter, medicinal black and red currant, some bright astringency, heavy oak, the funky ferment of the sake, sour hanssens lambic for sure, a light bretty layer, wheaty stewy malt, and high minerality, vinous to me, lemony, intense, complex, fully wild. the sake is subtle in the flavor, thought it might pop a little more, ends up being funky and floral but behind the fruit and the wood. the currants are awesome, identifiable more than they almost ever are, no generic berry here, although i do get raspberry and red wine grapes too. the alcohol is surprisingly well hidden here, this is dangerous, with only the acidity slowing me down. nicely grounded by the grain, which is just present enough in the mix. its not all sour though, some really cool lambic funk also happening, lots of wood, really good overall. i love what these guys are doing, and while the lagers are fun too, this is the kind of thing i know and love them for, not sure i can think of another brewery blending sake, lambic, and house made sour ale, this is seriously advanced. so dope!
