Dapple is our interpretation of a British Dark Mild. We brew Dapple with a classic simple infusion mash using Marris Otter Pale Ale and Crystal malts along with a touch of roasted barley. It is aroma hopped with East Kent Goldings during the boil in our copper kettle. After an open ale fermentation it rests in our cellars for several weeks.

It's just dark amber with dissipating head and a little lacing. The smell is nothing strong (maybe whiffs of chocolate), but the taste is really special. It's a chalky, cherry, chocolate, nut flavor. Kind of funky in a nice way (it's open fermented). It has solid and smooth body. Overall I really like this beer - much better than the sum of its parts. It's different and very drinkable.

Had on cask. (As God intended!) Reddish brown murky body, big tan head. Dry yeast with dark malts combine to give off nut, cocoa, toffee and subtle earth. Taste has cocoa and yeast right away with mild malts bringing biscuit and candied nut undertones. The balance of the body is striking, smooth and light weight while maintaining a dark complexion. One of the best OEC I have had

Pours murky, reddish brown in color with one inch head. Taste is pumpernickel bread, cherry, chewing tobacco, apple cider, and toasted malt. Light bodied, slightly sweet, medium low carbonation. Nice English bitter. Good malty masterpiece I would get again. Great job brewer.

The beer is a dark red/brown color with a small tan head. Some nice lacing.
Grainy, roasted malt aroma.
Roasted malt taste, sweet. Late kiss of hops.
A well-constructed beer.

This one pours a creamy looking golden brown, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells quite toasty, with some nutty malts, and a touch of light fruitiness.
I love the OEC commitment to less popular styles, and I’ll aways want to try a new to me dark mild. This is toasty and nutty, with a really nice creamy maltiness to it. There’s a hint of hop bitterness but it’s not the star of the show for sure.
This is light bodied but pretty creamy, with a great drinkability.
From the little bit I know about this style, this feels just about spot on to me.

This may be my fave yet from OEC. Only bought a single, so gonna try to savor it. Tasty! Pours a dark brown with a quick-fading cap that fades to nothing. Great color tho. Aroma of medium-roast malt made me think it would be more bitter than it is. Super mellow roasted flavors, ever-so-slightly sweet, and great delicate hop balance make this a clean-finishing, super-drinkable treat.

An OEC take on a Dark Mild? Sign me up. They tend to do their best work with large, exaggerated beers, but they also do great work with cleaner, sessionable beers so I’m very excited to try this one. Let’s crack it open and see how they did
Pours a cloudy reddish brown with 2 fingers of creamy light tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is gentle, but there’s an old world hop character adding a nice bitterness. I’m picking up on aromas of dark toast, acidic coffee, earthy hops, orange marmalade, toffee, cocoa powder, biscuity malt, and light cherry
It’s quite similar in taste, though the bitterness is a tad more pronounced. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting biscuity malt, herbal hops, milk chocolate, black cherry, toffee, brown sugar, dark bread, light honey, and acidic coffee. The swallow brings notes of dark toast, cocoa powder, earthy hops, orange marmalade, rye bread, toffee, acidic coffee, and light raisin
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes dry with a firm yet refreshing bitterness
It’s not the best Dark Mild, but it’s still damn good and drinks very easy. Worth a try

I had this on cask 4/27/23 @ the Beer Temple.
Opaque brown/orange rust appearance.
A nice tan head; strong tree-rung lace remained.
Chocolate, vanilla & oat notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Cream, chocolate, oats & happiness on the palate.
This one just floats down your throat. A treat on cask.
