Our German style Helles is brewed using European Pilsner, Munich and Cara malts using a traditional step infusion mash. During the boil, it is hopped using German Spalt Select and Tettnang. After the boil it rests in our copper coolship for 1 hour and transferred to baudelot cooler. It undergoes a cool open fermentation for 9 days using a classic lager yeast. It is cellared cold for several months prior to packaging.

Pours a clear yellow-amber with plenty of foam in the Affligem chalice. Light and sudsy on the tongue with plenty of spritz. Grainy aroma, a touch of citrus; really a pleasant but subtle fragrance that gives a nice sense of hops. There's an odd lemony flavor in the finish, not unpleasant. Some herbal hops in the aftertaste with a touch of astringency on the palate. This rather grows on you after a few sips. Refreshing and easy to gulp with the very nice carbonation. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine, which seems to carry this OEC stuff regularly.
