Hazy copper color with a thin tan head. Bready and hoppy nose. Hearty and malty, but not overly sweet. Earthy note.

Pours clear, copper in color with one inch head. Taste is wheat bread with honey and earthy hops. Medium light body, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet. Makes for a solid lager. Nothing earth shattering but a good and clean lager.

This doesn’t have a canning date as like all OEC cans, but since it was brewed for Lent it can’t be much more than 4 months old. The only other “Lentbier” I’ve had was the one from Schlenkerla, and I initially thought that this would be a Rauchbier when I picked it up, but I’m also intrigued by what it actually is. Let’s get into it

Pours a murky orange brown with 2 fingers of creamy light beige head that fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is pretty standard stuff, quite malty with a little bite. I’m picking up on aromas of honey, biscuity malt, brown sugar, floral hops, raisin, dark toast, black tea, and black pepper

It’s more of the same in taste, just a tad less malty sweet. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark toast, floral hops, toffee, green tea, wildflower honey, black pepper, and raisin. The swallow brings notes of pumpernickel toast, brown sugar, toffee, black pepper, floral hops, raisin, black tea, and light biscuit

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes neutral and balanced

This is a tasty one. OEC definitely has better beers but I dig it

16oz can into a pint glass. No freshness dating.

Nice malty aroma, slightly sweet taste, clean finish. Nice beer.

This one pours a nice clear reddish amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like nutty malt, some light fruitiness, toasted bread, caramel, and some nice clean spicing.

I don’t have many lentbiers, but they seem to kind of like slightly maltier and darker helles lagers, maybe? This has got a wonderful toasty and warming feel to it, with a touch of fruitiness and a hint of bitterness on the back end.

This is light bodied, super clean, and very, very drinkable.

This is a great winter lager, it remains light while still feeling kind of hearty for the colder weather.

No canning or BB date

L: Pours a pale amber color with good clarity. The pour gives two fingers of a light khaki head with good retention that leaves a mass of webbed and spotty lacing on the glass.

S: Caramel, rich Maillard character featuring prominent notes of toasted bread crust and light notes of toasted biscuit, a subtle nutty character, light notes of plum, and just a hint of noble hop spice.

T: Following the nose I get liquid caramel upfront that flows into a rich malt bomb featuring toasted bread crust, biscuity malt character, a hint of plums, and a light nutty character mixing with a nice earthy spice note on the backend and finish. The balance is towards malty-sweetness, but just barely as the Tettnang provides a bit of hoppy bitterness.

F: This one has a medium-full body with low carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a light dryness on the finish.

O: Nice rendition of a lentbier. This one has a clean fermentation profile and loads of toasted malt and malty-sweet goodness with a bit of noble hop character to keep it from being too cloy. My only criticism is that I wanted a bit more dryness on the finish. Recommended!
