Can Notes: "POCKET CHANGE is a Discovery Beer As we continue to develop new IPAs. We chose the juiciest, richest, Most fruity hops available and spared no expense to bring you this world class IPA."
Poured from 16oz can into glass. No canning date found. Hazy amber colored boy, two finger white head settled to interrupted cap, extensive lacing.
Aroma is fruity, tropical hops.
Taste is more dank, bitter hops, some sweeter tropical hops at the end.
Refreshing, medium mouth feel. Dry at the end.
More of a bitter IPA, not sweet, but juicy, mouth filling and easy to quaff.

L: hazy gold permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 1.5" pure white foam cap
S: pine, a light earthiness, and moist humus then citrus aromas and the smell of steeping malt
T: rich hop flavors of grapefruit, melon, fruit, citrus, and tropical fruit and a trace of resin. It dries on the finish with a lingering pithy, zesty hop bitterness
F: very creamy medium bodied beer with medium carbonation
O: A very drinkable beer packed with hop flavor.

i was attracted to to this can so i picked it up as a single at a neat liquor store just south of minneapolis. such random purchases dont always work out this well, and this is as an awesome ipa, and something a little different too, which was unexpected and welcomed. a little maltier at first than most ipas are these days, more grain structure and a slightly toasted element to it as well, but the hops are sturdy and have as much flavor and bitterness as they do dry hopped aroma, which is more classic, and also welcomed, as i am tiring of the dry hoppy juice bombs that are unsupported by grain and not backed up with any bitterness at all. if thats new school, this is decidedly old school in its balance and depth, but im not ready to go there yet, id rather say its a nice mix of two competing ideologies about ipa, as its hop complexion is very much on trend, fruity and citrusy, orange peel and minerals, light pineapple, and some vegetal density as well. nice with the grain here, which is hearty and warming, but also dry in the finish, and with the high level carbonation, it drinks easy for how dynamic and robust it is. this is my first beer from bank, its excellent, and it has me thirsty for more. substantial enough yet still really drinkable, hop driven but with a cool balance, anything but boring. awesome random pick up! the next time i buy beer from bank, it will not be random!
