Pours a beautiful coppery-red with a nice creamy two-finger white head that leaves plenty of lacing.
The aroma is big rye whiskey with some toffee, spice and pepeery notes as well.
Taste. Wow. nearly a shot of rye whiskey. lots of rye flavor as well as toffee, pepper and even raisin as it warms. Finishes with a nice bitter dryness. Tastes is a bit boozy but warming.
Mouthfeel is really nice. Smooth and creamy.
This had about a year on it and was quite enjoyable. Big, bold and brash. Nothing shy about it. Wish had had another one to age another year or so.

Love rye. Love rye whiskey. The combo at a local, small-town MN brewery? Gimme. Didn't even have to drive to get it as Eagan Cellars had a case. Picked up a single bottle, since that was the limit on it. 750ML bomber split with my wife.
Popped the cap - nary a hiss. Nothing. Uh. Very dark brown with chink of red, but even with a rock-hard pec, I mean pour, no carbonation at all. Nose is serious whiskey & sweet malts, which is very nice, offsetting the apparent lack of Bubbles.
Devil's Gulch could have been good, if it were a different beer. WTF? The whiskey comes through, but this beer is flatter than an anorexic supermodel. Not only that, aside from a bit of whiskey & malt, this is watery, thin. It doesn't even taste like they used good water. The mouth is surpassingly terrible.
Three sips to drainpour. I'd say this is one of the bottom five beers of the year for me, easy, maybe bottom ten all-time. $14 wasted on this bomber, but thank the Lord for the one-bottle limit. Sorry, drain, to do this to you. One horrific beer.
