also known as golden guppy, this is a really boozy tripel type, especially when it comes up to temperature a little bit. mostly clear and pale in color, not quite as vibrantly carbonated as i like my belgian stuff to be, but pretty lively looking nevertheless. aroma has a coriander and citrus aspect to it, high tone belgian yeast esters with notes of pear and taffy, and an obvious sweetness to it, honey or something, candy sugar as a spike maybe. the flavor matches the nose pretty well, it tastes like a pretty good american made belgian style, the yeast complexity really isnt there, it seems fermented a bit too warm, and it doesnt have the richness of feel i like in a more classic tripel, but it does somehow have the weight. the alcohol is a lot in this one, fusel and hot later on. nice sweetness throughout this, a floral note, soft spice from the yeast, and more of that pear character. good but not great, it doesnt benefit from being this strong, and it lacks some nuance for a belgian style, but above average on the whole and rather enjoyable just the same...
