Braustil "Lager Sauer"
on tap at the brewery on 17 Septmebr 2021
Look: Slightly hazy deep gold body beneath a short head of bright white foam. Better than average head retention, and surprisingly good lacing for a sour.
Smell: Mineralish and softly fruity with apple and pear over mild, sweetish malt.
Taste: The malt is bready and gently biscuity. It's tart but not full-on "sour". Notes of apple, pear, and a hint of lemon. Low level bitterness but with a dry finish due to the acidity. Short lingering with a mild fruitiness.
Feel: Light-medium in body and gently crisp-then-smooth with a fine-bubbled, moderate carbonation.
Overall: Quite nice. Charming, refreshing, and surprisingly drinkable for a sour beer.
