Floral, medicine-like, kinda funky and dank, with some citrus. The taste draws a lot of attention to itself--the citrus and earthy notes seem a little at odds with each other. It is rather oldschool New England (i.e. it isn't an orange smoothie), which is nice, so if that's your thing, and especially if you like 90 Minute IPA, you might like it.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Thick bold and rich off white head, with a vanilla white color. Small swiss cheese bubbles and a big three finger plus size. Thick retention, not even budging while it settles. The body color is a beautiful copper to bronze orange, and nicely clear with a polished shine. Great looking beer.

Old school East coast like vibes of light pine, but very malt forward. Hitting caramel and even a bit toasty with a big sweetness. The sweetness seems to hit more of a fresh cooked wort, and sweet cereal grains.

Flavors on first sip don't seem that well developed. A good bitterness of classic hop hits first, but while there's touches of pine and earth, there's a bit too much medicinal twang. Mouthfeel is supportive, almost has a somewhat good play of caramel thickness that isn't too syrupy. Finishes tea like and old school herbal, with a nice punch and hits with pepper spices nicely.

I do like this, but don’t find this particularly exceptional or one that stands out. However, it's a nice change of pace and drinks well and brings back some old school IPA character for me.

Can from the source.
Mostly clear deep gold color with a huge frothy off white head that persists. Earthy grassy pine and citrus with a decent amount of bready maltiness to back it up. Light alcohol and faint diacetyl but pretty nice.

At a restaurant on tap to a pint glass. Don't know why this is listed as archived.
Clear deep copper color.
Not a very distinctive smell.
Balanced taste not fruity, not bready, but not very memorable.
Unremarkable feel.
Overall, a middling double IPA.

Good blanket lace from the initial two-finger head. Dark gold color with a nearly clear look.

Far more pale malt aroma than hop. Semisweet with a bit of caramel to the nose.

Rich caramel malt flavor and the hop bitterness is far more pronounced on the tongue. Very full body with a low level of carbonation. Relatively short aftertaste for the style. Very round.

I had previously sworn that I would never try another bigelow brewing beer because their pale ale was so terrible, and overpriced but i gave in and tried this one after seeing that Lou gave it another try. I can't knock how this one looks and it has a pleasant aroma, more of a fruity ester aroma and yeast than of hops. Taste is mild, more of an American pale or. Session ipa, no way is this an imperial or double ipa, not a lot of hops in the taste, more malt sweetness and yeast aftertaste. A slight lingering bitterness is left. And is not as all unpleasant.

Again, way overpriced for a 22oz bottle, (7.99) but it's a not terrible option if there are no other ipas available, and they are up against tough maine competition like bissel, marshal wharf, maine beer company- BMFR

From a 22oz bottle, no date

Pours a golden yellow with a decent sized head, not much lacing on the glass although there are a couple small dabs here and there.

Smell is strong in in the sweet malt front, little bit of dank hop aroma when you search for it.

Taste starts on a sweet malty front, bitterness is fairly mild throughout with only a low piney citrus presence, body is nice and creamy, low carbonation in the mouth but it works when it comes to the body, strength is well hidden and drinks more like a regular IPA in both heat and flavor.

Poured into mug from 22 oz. bottle
Copper color with white head and good lacing
Citrus, piney smell, fresh and pleasant
Definite orange and a bit of pine at the end. Hops not overpowering.
Good mouthfeel
Little hesitant to try because I didn't like their other offering. But this was worth trying and will be purchased again.

Tasted at the Maine Brewers Guild Freshman Orientation event in November 2nd. Not sure if this will be part of their regular lineup or if it was a one time, but very well done IPA
