16oz glass from the brewery – 10.09.15
Gavel Drop is where it is at with all of its Nelson hop goodness!
Crystal clear pour to a very light straw pale colored body. Thin layer of ivory cream resides over top for a few moments. Some light dusting of lace hits the glass.
Nelson Sauvignon on full display here. Bursts with white wine, green berry/gooseberry, grapefruit, and some earthy dank elements mixed in. Both in the nose and flavor. Malt asserts a little more in the finish providing some mild sweetness and a cracker like backbone. There is moderate amount of actual bitterness to this and a very clean, crisp, bone dry finish.
Light hoppy and refreshing. Very crushable. Recommended.

Aroma: clearly Nelson. Herby lemon
Flavor: lemon, earth, desert wine, toasted malt
Mouthfeel: zingy, a tad zot like
More Brewers should brew with Nelson

Great smell. Good initial taste but finish just falls flat.

Had a 4oz taster at the Brewery in San Diego, poured cloudy. Very bitter with after taste. Didn't agree with me, gave me a headache.
