1 Pint, 9.4 fl. oz. bottle
Served in a becker glass
2014
This beer pours dark brown in color. When held to the light deep reddish purple highlights are visible. It is topped with a couple inches of tan head that doesn't stick around long and leaves no trace of its existence on the side of the glass.
The hazelnut seems to have faded. I smell booze even after 4+ years. There are some elements of caramel and vanilla in the smell.
I barely get any hazelnut in the taste but the bourbon is ever present. The bourbon cuts through any perceived sweetness in this beer delivering a alcohol aftertaste.
Full bodied with smooth mouthfeel
This is about as boozy as I remember it being four years ago. If memory serves me Listermann had this and a Heaven Hill barrel variant. I recall commenting on how much smoother the Heaven Hill one was. I believe they said it spent mor time in the barrel than this Pappy variant. It shows.
