1 Pint, 6 fl. oz. bottle
Served in a pint glass
This beer pours a tea color and is topped with two inches of tan head that leaves some decent lacing.
The aroma is sweet right off the bat. I really don't smell cinnamon, but the hazelnut comes through. I get a some caramel and vanilla from the barrel.
The taste is interesting. It stars sweet. Then I get an earthy, nutty flavor from the aged hazelnut. The is a sweet bourbon flavor in the background that builds towards the finish. I got some fig and date flavors in my first few drinks, but it gave way to the other flavors.
Full mouthfeel.
We were supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow today, so White Death seemed appropriate for the day. I'm not a fan of what the barrel aging did to the hazelnut flavor, but it was good. It reminded me of a bourbon barrel barleywine.

An otherwise bland winter warmer/sweet spiced brown ale rescued by the grace of Chickow!
A: Standard brown clear appearance.
S: super sweet Milky Way candy bar on the nose
T: taste has the booze, cinnamon, and nutmeg, with a twinge of cocoa unveiled by Chickow, and some nuttier follow through with a surprisingly bitter finish for the low IBU
MF: well carbonated to the point of crispness. Malty syrupy texture combined with the brisk carbonation (coupled with the dark flavor) give me the impressions of a well-endowed dobblebock...
Overall: skirts the line between novel seasonal and a very respectable spiced brown. No doubt, being blended with the excellent Chickow! Rescues this beer from mediocrity to a very respectable level.

White Death By Chickow is an ale blended with hazelnut and cinnamon and fermented in bourbon barrels with natural flavors added.
Look: The body of the beer is lightly hazed amber coloration with a thin tan had that quickly resolved.
Smell: The base beer Chickow quickly pops up to the surface of the aroma. Lots of brown sugary malt, cocoa. Coming along for the ride is a very pleasing blend of cinnamon, vanilla, and cloves.
Taste: The flavor of the beer is sweet malty brown sugar, vanilla, a flash of cocoa, gingerbread, vanilla, nuttiness. In short it taste like a cookie I would want for the holidays. Yes the beer is sweet but it never becomes cloying.
Feel: The body of the beer is on the plus size of medium. I realize this is sort of like claiming someone is a small big beautiful woman. The beer almost make full bodied.
Overall: The two beers in this blend have fused into a beer I want again. I haven't had White Death by itself. Now I am looking forward to trying some White Death. Chickow is a nice canvas to play with and wrap flavors around. Well Done!
