Imperial Porter brewed with peanut butter. Poured from a bottle into a MadTree Teku. Pours very dark (nearly black) with a perfectly-formed 2 fingers of khaki colored foam. The nose is amazing. Lots of freshly-roasted peanuts, roasted malt, and dark chocolate.
Firm feel with a medium-full body and a wonderful flavor. Rich and sweet up front with flavors of molasses, chocolate, and peanuts, then there's some balancing roasted malt bitterness at mid-palate. The peanut flavor is not overdone. Rather, it is well-integrated with the malt. It reminds me of a peanut butter shortbread cookie with dark chocolate.
This beer is something of a favorite among Listermann regulars and it's easy to understand why. I have had several peanut-flavored beers and some of them are just plain awful. This one is superb. The peanut flavor is just about perfect and its marriage with the other flavors makes this beer a home run.
