West Coast IPA brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial (oh yeah!). My guess is this is a Double Dry-Hopped version of their Pac IPA. Poured from a can into a Woodburn tulip. The pour is light orange, very hazy, and boasts 2 fingers of fine white foam with good retention. The nose is nice and citrusy with pronounced notes of sweet oranges, peaches, pineapple, and grapefruit.
Medium-body with a firm feel. Very well-balanced with soft bitterness and fresh citrus. Up front I get a slightly tart, wheat-like graininess, then refreshing notes of lemon, orange, and pineapple. Not much maltiness here. The beer never seems sweet or gives any hints of marmalade. It's rather light-bodied and has a sharp, yet very pleasant-flavored bitterness to it. The hops come in sharp, then spread out and take on some peach, passionfruit, and apricot flavors towards the back of the palate. Finishes dry and refreshing.
I really enjoyed this one. It's a bit pricey for an IPA, but it's an outstanding IPA from a local brewer. This is why I don't trade beers any more. All I have to do is check out the taps at Listermann, Woodburn, Braxton, Urban Artifact or any of a host of other local brewers and I will never long for wonderful new beers to try. I hope it's like this in other cities too.
