Dark brown filling to black with a moderate tan foam that settles to a persistent but thin creamy blanket leaving a few soft curvy wisps of lace.

Smell is creamy vanilla and maple candies with some creamy milk foam and milk chocolate, as well as hints of buttery Werther's and waffles.

Taste starts mildly sweet with notes of mapled nuts, light roast coffee, and a slight astringent woody hop. Then a sharp tingle of vanilla pops in, but that's actually a bit light on actual flavor, bringing a more cola or root beer twang to it.

The body is medium but with some heft and a silky round feel that is lightened by a soft, light but slowly and satisfyingly filling carbonation, finishing sticky dry.

Pastry stout brewed with maple with vanilla and coffee added. Poured from a bottle into a DFH snifter. The pour is very dark brown, nearly black, and sports a nice 2 fingers of tight tan foam. The nose has nice rich notes of molasses, roasted coffee, vanilla, and maple.

Medium-full body with a firm feel and a rich flavor. Up front I get toffee and sarsaparilla. It quickly gives way to vanilla and coffee notes which balance each other nicely. The coffee is not too roasty or bitter. It is rich and flavorful. That sarsaparilla flavor lingers a bit on the finish along with some of the coffee and maple. Really delicious beer!
