12 FL OZ bottle
Served in a snifter
This beer pours black and is topped with less than an inch of tan head that leaves little lacing.
The smell is cinnamon, vanilla, caramel with hints of bourbon and chocolate.
The taste follows the smell. I get cinnamon, vanilla, and caramel. I get hints of bourbon. It is sweet, a dessert beer for sure. I get some chocolate and coffee as it warms.
Medium bodied with a velvety smooth mouthfeel
I am not a huge cinnamon in beer fan, but this does taste like a cinnamon roll in liquid form with some complimentary flavors.

Stout with vanilla, walnuts, cinnamon, and natural flavors added and aged in Bourbon barrels. Poured from a bottle into a MadTree Teku. The pour is very dark brown - nearly black - and allows little to no light to sneak through. The head is one finger thick, fine and light brown in color, and sports average retention. On the nose I get fresh pastry, cinnamon, a little vanilla, and some roasted malt. The cinnamon is not "in your face" - it's just there enough to let you know it's present.
Full body with a creamy feel and a fantastic flavor profile. Up front I get toffee and cinnamon. At mid-palate, some of the roasted malt creeps in along with the bouron barrel, adding vanilla, sweet cream, and some alcohol warmth that adds richness to the flavor. Finishes warm and sticky with lingering flavors of cinnamon, bourbon, and dark chocolate.
What a fabulous beer! It really demonstrates just how good Listermann is at making these kinds of full-flavored complex beers. A lot of brewers go overboard with flavors like cinnamon and vanilla, but Listermann is skilled (and confident) enough to keep them in check and make sure the flavors all work well together. When none of the individual flavors dominate and you have something that is truly delicious and not grating and offputting. My hats off to Listermann for this little gem. I can't wait to share my other bottle at next week's tasting.
