New England IPA brewed with Citra and El Dorado with coconut, pineapple, vanilla, and ancient Tiki flavors added. Poured from a can into a Listermann's pub glass. Light orange in color and very hazy with a thin head that quickly dissipates. The color makes me thirsty just looking at it. Like the first Yacht Rock, this one has a nose that is unlike just about any other New England IPA out there. Yes, you get the citrusy hops, but you also get hints of vanilla, cinammon, allspice, coconut, and pineapple.
Medium body with a delicate feel and a complex flavor. Up front I get lemon and fresh bread. This quickly gives way to pineapple, honey, cinammon, and a hint of vanilla. The hops persist, but never die out or become so aggressive you can't taste the spices and additional flavors. Towards the back of the palate, the fruit turns to mango and coconut. These flavors linger briefly on the finish.
According to the brewer, Yacht Rock II has more fruit, more spices, basically more of everything that made the first incantation of Yacht Rock so enjoyable. Definitely a unique beer that I hope the brewer brings back from time to time.
