Collaboration beer brewed with Bhramari Brewing (Asheville, NC). Pastry stout brewed with chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, and coffee and aged in coconut rum barrels. Served in a small snifter and tasted at the bottle release at the brewery and reviewed from notes. The pour is very, very dark (nearly black) with a thin layer of fine brown foam. The nose is dominated by the peanut butter. In addition, I get a little of the vanilla as well as some toasted oak. I get no coconut. Very full body with a creamy feel and a rich flavor. Like a peanut butter cup dipped in rum and dark chocolate sauce. Peanut butter and cocoa on the palate from start to finish. There is a little vanilla and toasted oak up front, but it can't stand up to the peanut butter and cocoa. I'm not sure the coconut rum barrels do much here to provide coconut (just toasted oak). I know of no brewer that does peanut butter flavor in beers as well as Listermann does.
