Imperial Pastry Stout brewed with vanilla cake mix, custard, and chocolate (according to the bottle ``this beer was inspired by actual events''). Brewed in collaboration with Vintage Wine Estates. Served on tap at Listermann's during the bottle release (DISCLAIMER: I was fighting a bad cold when I reviewed this, so this beer might be better than I give it credit for). Very dark brown pour - not quite black - and quite viscous. On the nose I get vanilla, some chocolate, and a fair amount of roasted malt. The beer is very sweet with lots of chocolate, vanilla, and even some vanilla frosting. When I close my eyes and put the glass up to my lips, it's as if I'm holding a piece of cake with lots of frosting and am preparing to take a bite. I get some dark fruit in there as well. Very full-bodied. Overall, I think it's just a bit too sweet and rich for my palate. It's delicious, but I would have a difficult time drinking an entire 12 oz bottle of this.
