XI is a multi barrel blended imperial stout from Listermann. The label says there are three different varieties of barreled beer but doesn't get too descriptive. The flavorings are walnut, cocoa, and spices. XI really brings a diverse flavor with the blended beers and ventures into the land of complex stouts (BCBS, World Wide, etc.)
The mouthfeel is slightly oily, from the walnuts. The flavor is big and bold from the vanilla and baking spices (there isn't any heat so I don't think they added chiles). The complexity of this beer is what really got me hooked. It isn't one note like a lot of big imperial stouts can be and I really appreciate that. You are able to get bourbon, vanilla, spices, walnut, and a bit of dark fruit. This is a repeat buy.
