12 oz bottle, wax sealed, poured into a goblet at 40 degrees F and allowed to warm during consumption.
L: Pours your standard inky black, and formed absolutely no head at all even with a harsh pour. No ring, no cap, nothin'.
S: Rich black "chocolate cake grade" garden soil shot through with some vinous notes, coffee, and bourbon barrel leap out of the glass.
T: That is definitely a barreled lactose stout! Sweet cream hits right up front, mingled with a middling-heavy barrel presence with all the attendant oak, vanilla, caramel, ashy-boozy notes. Off in the distant background there's a suggestion of sour plum and fig, with the concept of loamy earth. For the life of me, I cannot find any coffee in the taste.
F: Full, thick, and creamy, if a tad lacking in the liveliness department.
O: A delicious sweet-boozy stout.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This mighty brew with heart (portion
goes to Marine's Toys For Tots) pours a deep and murky blackish brown with
a nice head of brown foam that settles to a thin ring, thin dusty layer, and sports
some light lacing (with some nice legs when swirling). Nose of bourbon, oak,
vanilla, dark chocolate, light coffee, and touches of cream with caramel amongst
light char. Flavors follow the nose with aplomb. Dark chocolate, bourbon, mellow
oak, rich vanilla, moderate char, deep roasted coffee, cream, and dark fruits of black and
blueberry. Excellent mouth feel; full body, smooth, rich, coating, moderately slick, low
carbonation, and a full, rich, bourbon and chocolate finish.
Overall, a stunner from a stunning brewery!
Cheers
