I Liked Listermann Before It Was Cool (2021)

A 12 oz. bottle of angel cake stout. That sound weird, sweet, & potentially cavity-causing. “I Liked” hit that nail squarely, so let’s see where “I Hated” veers.

Black. Near still. The nose supports the description, vanilla frosting that some kid dumped an extra cup of sugar into.

I Liked Listermann Before It Was Cool fulfills its destiny (“destiny is all!”): it is sweeter than a bad 80s pop song with five siblings. The vanilla is so present it could be three vanilla & the backing vocals are all sweetness. Sugar, cane sugar, corn syrup. Probably angel food cake too if my palate were finer than a Kent FOT Pocket Fine-Tooth Comb. A two ounces sample would have been sufficient.

Pretty sure my nose hair has diabetes. Just like it’s cousin this is sickeningly sweet. Just beer.

 

one of the best beers i've had from this brewery - sweet creamy smooth beer - ii see a trend of beer titles what about the next one titled " i think i'll have another Listermann"

Look - Nice looking black beer with a nice tan head and lacing
Smell - vanilla cake with chocolate frosting
Taste - roasty vanilla slight chocolate cake
Feel - Medium body with a slight fizz
Overall - the roasty doesnt match what I think they were looking for and I dont taste the angel food cake cast, more thick battered cake
