Listermann coconut stouts are hard to come by. The market seems to be flooded with this variety and I was happy to try these two. The base beer has a definitive rye dryness to it. The chocolate is the main profile and there isn't much coconut to be found. It is a solid stout but wouldn't dub this one as coconut.

A Whole Ass Coconut? These guys have a crack marketing team. I mean, that’s irresistible. At least to me. 12 oz. bottle. Can that even hold a whole coconut? Let’s find out.
Dark with no hint of flesh or heart. Nose is light & well integrated: vanilla, coconut, roast, but not much of any of the lot.
A Whole Ass Coconut should be entitled A Whole Ass Vanilla Bean. Vanilla has the upper hand here with the coconut only sticking an eye in to wink slyly. Vanilla meshes with a healthy helping of roast & background of spicy rye to create an interesting, drinkable stout.
Not something I’d grab out of the walk-in every day, but a good solid beer.

A: The beer is essentially black in color and only has traces of dark red near the edges of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a short off beige head that quickly died down and left a thin ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of rye and chocolate malts are present in the nose along with hints of coconut and vanilla.
T: The taste has flavors of chocolate along with notes of rye and hints of coconut.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I got more in the way of chocolate and rye in this beer, but it makes for a nice Imperial Stout.

12 ounce bottle, no dating that I noticed on it but I think it was a July 2021 release. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like chocolate, rye malt, vanilla, roasted malt and coconut. I think the taste is like the aroma but with more punch to it, and there's also some burnt/charred malt, dark chocolate and earthy flavors noticeable too. It's good and tasty but was wishing the coconut was stronger here. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. 12% ABV is well hidden here. I liked this brew a lot, I just figured with the name that the coconut flavor would be a lot stronger. I'd buy this again in the future as it's a good imperial stout, but if you're looking for a beer with a lot of coconut then you might want to pass on this one. $5.99 a bottle.
