22 ounce bottle into a tulip snifter. Bottled 2/15/17, had4/7/17. Aged in Quincy Street barrels.

Pours a dark garnet/amber, somewhat opaque, with a short, quickly dissipating head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of figs, plums, light cherries, malt, some yeast, rye, bourbon, dates, light toffee. The taste is more malt forward, then bourbon, rye, dates, figs, plums, raisins, some caramel and oak. Smooth, a solid body for the style, well carbonated.

Really well balanced between the base beer and the barrels. The double barrels are distinct, too. Great aroma, very good flavor. A little less malty than typical, which was nice touch. Really solid effort.

22oz bottle from 02/17 poured into a tulip shows a muddy brown and briefly floats a 1/4in tan colored fluffy foam.

Aromas are booze, rye, and as it warms, a very nice stone fruit (plum).

Taste matches as the fruit hits first then oak, rye, bourbon, vanilla, malt, and subtle hints of leather and chocolate. This becomes a very nice, complex beer when it warms.

Mouthfeel is smooth, medium--leaning thick-- with a tongue-coating oilyness that just as quickly leaves the pallette.

Overall a very nice expression of the style and aged to great effect in Quincy Street Bourbon and malted rye barrels. Enjoy with a friend and a cigar.
