Pours dark brown and sits black in the glass with a minimal layer of brown foam.

Chocolate, vanilla/creamy sweetness, oak, and a bit of bourbon.

Oak and bourbony barrel character comes through just a touch letting the chocolate, roasty, and vanilla sweetness come through.

Full-bodied, low carbonation, sweet, smooth.

Overall, a very rich and deliciously sweet brew. Would definitely pick this up again.

my man dankacheese sent this one out for me, nearing the end of the awesome beers he sent. this is killer stuff that i fear i may have never encountered if he hadnt sent it, so thanks man! big creamy headed near black brew with quite a lot of viscosity and some nice spider web lace as it drinks, thick and lasting. the aroma here is awesome, lots of roasted barley and immediately i notice it not being as sweet as many of its peers. hints of coffee and vanilla, but not overly sugary. lots of whiskey. the flavor is great here, a nice dry roasted barley on the base, maybe some wheat too, it has that grainy puffiness to it that i really like. a slight burnt note up front, with all the oak and vanilla bourbon and honey on the back end, almost like there is some actual whiskey blended into this, i feel the booze too, but its all pretty cohesive and mellow on the whole, and the big body helps with that. i reckon the milk sugars add more body than they do sugar here, this has a textural richness without being overly sweet, and i think thats really smart. barrel char and a bitter note to finish. huge body, creamy feel, remarkably active carbonation, and unique enough to be memorable for me. this was impressive beer, a bottle to share for sure, but really something special. thanks for sending man!

22 ounce bottle into a snifter, also draft. Bottled 3/1/17, had bottle 3/25/17. Aged in George Dickel Tennessee Bourbon barrels

Pours near black, oily looking and opaque, with a small head and some loose, soapy lacing. The smell is medium roast malts, chocolate, bourbon- more as it warms, oak, some vanilla, a little smoky. The taste also leads with the malt, but not as roasted. Bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, oak, light lactose, some molasses. Smooth, a solid medium to full body, appropriately carbonated.

The Dickel barrels are just great- Imperial Oak does a great job of sourcing different barrels to use, great flavor and aroma. Complex and well developed. This one’s a big winner.
