22oz bottle #278/540 dated 03/08/18
Poured into a bulbous pint glass shows an opaque black showing a cola-brown tint at the edge when tilted. A 1/4in dark brown medium bubbled head disippates quickly leaving only sporadic edge-hugging bubbles. Tiny spotted lacing has legs.
Aroma is bourbon forward with hints of oak and leather. I'd like to introduce a cigar to this aroma. The flavor matches.
Mouthfeel leans thinner, but still full and creamy, and it almost coats the tongue. To paraphrase another reviewer, let it warm before critiquing, but enjoy the process of warming.
Overall a great sipper. I hope to remember to compare after another spends a year under the stairs.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Aged for more than 1 year. Bottled 3/8/18, had 3/23/18.
Pours near black and opaque, with a half inch head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of bourbon, light roast malt, chocolate, cocoa, oak, some caramel, light coffee and smoke, a hint of burnt wood. Smells great. And it tastes great, too- bourbon, malt, chocolate, oak, caramel, cocoa, some vanilla and molasses, light raisins. Smooth, well carbonated, a very good medium to full body.
Man, this one is a keeper. At its best when fully warmed. The bourbon is outstanding and not overdone, the base beer is fully supportive and complimentary to the barrels. One of the best BA efforts from Imperial Oak, and that’s saying a lot.
