2018 release and first in a 12oz can boasts a rich, dark, lightless, dark brown body and briefly floats a 1/2in cap of cocoa colored medium bubbles with erratic lacing running to an edge-hugging ring.

Aromas include chocolate, stone fruit, cocoa, an almost cherry-like tartness that I will ascribe to the oak, ash, and leather.

Flavors match with oak tanins, vanilla, and cocoa. Booze flavor is prominent at 14%, but not overpowering.

Mouthfeel is tongue-coatingly full and slick, but leaving a slight cocoa powder grit and booze warmth.

Overall a very good variation on the style.

12 ounce can into a snifter. Had 4/13/19. Also had on tap.

Pours near black and opaque, with a short head and a little spotty cling. Aromas of bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, oak, figs, some molasses, light tobacco and char. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate, raisins, oak, prunes, cocoa, some figs, light tobacco and molasses. Smooth, a little creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.

The vanilla is really prominent this year, and the barrels are really good, as usual. Best fully warmed. Solid effort.

Had on tap. So the body and appearance are very nice, with jet black liqueur pour and creamy body. The smell has bourbon, chocolate and vanilla, followed by a wave of sweet malt. Taste is a boozy malt bomb with a hint of chocolate but the vanilla is swallowed up for the most part
