12 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 11/30/18, had 4/11/19.

Pours a darker brown/amber, somewhat opaque, with a half inch foamy head and slick, foamy lacing. Aromas of rye whiskey, caramel, malt, figs, brown sugar, dates, some oak, light tobacco, a hint of coconut. The flavor is similar- rye whiskey, malt, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dates, some figs, raisins, light vanilla and tobacco. A little alcohol warming. It’s a little sweet. Smooth, a good medium body, well carbonated.

The double rye whiskey barrels- Buffalo Trace and Quincy St, are great. Wonderful aroma, lots to single out and enjoy in both the aroma and flavor. Excellent effort from IO.

This beer hits you in all the right places. Really pretty and prototypical copper brown pour with some quickly receding bubbles. Smell is immaculate, with huge notes of caramel, toffee, fresh cut wood, earthiness, smoke, dark fruit, and molasses, all in a sheen of rich rye whiskey. Taste was equally amazing, pretty much exactly as it smelled. Warm, smooth and highly drinkable for abv in the feel. Best scotch ale I have had in awhile. The wife loved it too!
