12 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Released 4/27/19, had 5/2/19. Also had on tap.
Pours a dark amber, a little cloudy, with a one inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of scotch, malt, caramel, tobacco, figs, dates, char, some plums, bourbon as it warms, some oak, some peat. Flavors of caramel, scotch, malt, bourbon- more as it warms, figs, butterscotch, some oak and tobacco, light cherries and plums, light vanilla, dates, raisins, light peat. Smooth, a very good medium to full body, well carbonated.
Excellent scotch barrels- more smoky than peaty. The former tenant of the barrels- bourbon, still comes through pretty well and maybe tempers the scotch a little. A caramel bomb of a barleywine, but a lot of dark fruit still shows well. Really well done and very enjoyable.
