12 ounce can into a snifter. Released 10/30/20, had 11/19/20.
Pours near black and opaque, with a half inch head of darker foam and some foamy lacing. Aromas of bourbon, malt, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, light caramel, a little oak. The flavor begins with pretty strong bourbon, then vanilla, sea salt, chocolate, some cocoa and caramel, malt, faint peanut, a little oak. Mostly smooth, a good but thinner feeling full body, well carbonated.
Much like this year’s regular BA version, the barrels are delicious and dominant, but the base isn’t as strong. Definitely a bit thinner. The chocolate is a positive and the sea salt comes through well in the flavor. Didn’t get much peanut, though. Overall, it’s still pretty good.
