This years 11% barrel aged Imperial Porter was aged in Four Roses Bourbon barrels for a year. When the goodness was finally pulled from the barrels we took a portion and added a world encompassing mix of spices to create our "Mexican Hot Cocoa" version. We started with a few smoked Moriarty and Ancho peppers from Mexico, coco nibs from Ecuador and the Philippines, and a blend of Ceylon and and Saigon cinnamon from Sri Lanka and Vietnam respectively. We finished it with Madagascar vanilla pods for an amazing delicious winter warmer.

12 ounce can into a snifter. Released 2/2/24, had 6/5/24.
Pours an opaque, dark brown, with a quarter inch foamy head and light speckled cling. Aromas of bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, malted milk balls, some smoky chilies, light cinnamon. Flavors of bourbon, chocolate, chilies, roasted malt, vanilla, light cinnamon and malted milk balls. Smooth, a very good fuller body, appropriately carbonated.
They pretty much hit the mark with this. The chilies have a good presence, especially in the flavor, and the cinnamon is lighter and complimentary instead of in your face. The barrels are a little tamer with all the add- ins, but still have a good presence- as does the vanilla. Very enjoyable.
