The colour is black (120 EBC), the finger thick pale brown head is compact. Some fine lacing occurs.

The smell is sour from the roasted malt. Notes of rye bread, some smoked delicatessen. Hints of wood and nuts.

The first flavours that hit me are black rye bread and some woody hints of particle board (that seem to be the house flavour of NYAB). Sour hints, dry caramelized hints of cookies and black coffee. The aftertaste got dry sour notes of unmalted barley. Lots of oatmeal rusks in the finish.

The carbonation is medium to mild; the somewhat sharp bubbles are medium sized.

A very dry stout, that just wasn't as smooth as I had hoped for. Some raw husky off-flavours in it, too.

Dark pour, nearly black, with a dark tan, frothy head of foam. Invigorating nose shows hints of dried chocolate, smoke, leather and dark fruit. Incredibly flavorful for a 6.6% beer, lots of taste. Hints of chocolate, smoke, tobacco and dried dark fruit. The most impressive part is the finish, which lasts nearly 30 seconds. An amazing recipe and also carefully brewed.

A nearly black beer with a nuance of dark brown, a rather small tan head is brown leaves little lacing, but has some curtains.

The smell is roasted grain, dark dried fruits, some coffee tones and sausages.

The taste has burnt bread, a raisin sweetness, dates and smoked sausages.

Low carbonation, small bubbles, a medium body ans a light dry finish.

A nice "Irish" stout, this one made me leave Guinness.
