Our Scotch Ale puts a Belgian spin on the traditional "wee heavy". This medium bodied ale starts with rich malt and caramel, rounds with hints of nut and dried fruit, and ends with a clean and medium dry finish.

From a 750ml bottle. Reddish brown color with minimal head. Caramel malt aroma. Medium body with light carbonation. Malty flavor with brown sugar sweetness and a floral note on the finish. Hides its ABV very well.

$ 12.98 (Including tax)/750 mL bottle ($ 0.501/oz) at Spec’s, Shertz, TX
Undated bottle at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma of malt. As the glass warms some plum comes through.
Head average (Maximum 2.8 cm, aggressive pour), light brown, frothy, diminishing to a three mm ring and partial layer
Lacing good – wide complete ring of tiny to large bubbles resembling curtains
Body – dark reddish amber around the edges, opaque en masse
Flavor – malty and sweet, ends with an odd but not unpleasant near-bitterness; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate full, creamy, lively carbonation
This is self-described as a “Belgian style Scotch ale”. I don’t care, it’s still good.
Appearance 4, Aroma 4, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4.25, Overall 4.25.

Poured from a 750ml bottle (no bottle date, I hate that) into a thistle glass.
LOOK: Pours with a quarter finger worth of khaki foam that shrivels into a line after 10 seconds (that was lame). Copper in color with a beautiful ruby tint. Rising bubbles are very small in size and are so scarce in quantity, that I can count them as they ascend. Lacing is low and thin, but sticks to the glass.
SMELL: Has mild aromas of black tea, black cherries, figs, plums, mangos, peaches, and caramel that combine with subtle floral hop and smoked goodness aromas. The 9% alcohol cannot be detected (hallelujah).
TASTE: It's extremely difficult to say which flavors enter first. It's practically a simultaneous onslaught of all flavors that were detected as aromas with the exception that floral hop and smoked goodness flavors are mild instead of subtle as they are in the aroma. Also, as all the other flavors begin to fade out, smoked goodness flavors remain.
FEEL: Full-bodied with hints of carbonation (spectacular combination!!!). Goes does really smooth and finishes with a subtle dryness.
NOTE: An incredible display of a Scotch Ale. Best part was that not a drop of alcohol could be detected. This brewery has to be one of the most underrated breweries out there.

this is a good beer, but if it had been aged longer before bottling, it could have been a great beer
