West Coast Style IPA brewed with a classic blend of American hops. Orange, grapefruit, and tropical notes with a hint of that old school crisp pine.

Enjoyed a pint of this when it came on tap at the Voodoo outpost in College Station.
This pours a light gold with some mild hop notes and a mild bitter finish. Easy drinking.

Well save the world has done pretty good so far for me, so let's see what their west coast IPA does.
It's a little less than average on the appearance, and the nose is a little muted.
However the taste is about what I'd expect, including what seems to be a high IBU count on the finish. Yes there's some citrus esp grapefruit and some pineyness too.
The feel is a little thinner than I'd prefer with so much bitterness, but overall it's still pretty drinkable.
Not stellar but not bad either.

Picked up a four pack of pint cans. Date on can: 12/11/2023. A little over four months old. Not ideal, but let's see what we've got.
Pours a golden copper in color with a finger thick foamy white head on top that dissipates to a frothy layer of lacing which also coats the glass as you drink. Carbonation looked a bit high off the pour but it settled to what looks to be average, maybe a touch below, with medium sized bubbles rising up. Pretty on point for the style with a hoppy, balanced look.
Aroma is predominantly pine and melon with notes of tea and perhaps a hint of lemon and malt roast. Not getting much in the way of grapefruit or tropical fruit.
Taste follows the aroma pretty well. Actually quite a lot of pine and some tart bitterness with spice on the swallow. This, ironically, tastes a tad green to me. Not getting much citrus or tropical fruit, other than maybe some pith. Not much malt balance either. The aftertaste is a continuation of that bitter, tart, piney hoppiness. Unpleasant.
Mouthfeel is barely medium bodied, comes off a bit thin with biting carbonation on the swallow. Finishes a touch dry. I suppose it would be drinkable if I cared more for the flavor.
Well, this was a letdown. There seem to be a lot more misses than hits for Texas beers which tout themselves as a "West Coast Style IPA" -- this was not at all reminiscent of that style for me. Honestly, it was hard to drink. I hope this batch is just a tad old and the fresh stuff is better. This is my first beer from this brewing company, so they've got one strike against them already.
